new ami crochet pattern - Paboo Red Panda

I finally had the time to concentrate on working on a new amigurumi crochet pattern, this time it is Pabu the fire ferret on Legend of Kora. The main technique being used in this pattern is changing of yarns, changing yarn color is basically done on the last stitch of previous color, fairly simple to follow, and use loose yarn end to stitch over any unwanted yarn color, and making sure the ends are tied afterwards.

new amigurumi crochet pattern - choockoBird

this is what happens when you have (grown) boys in the house, whilst I enjoy creating my fuzzy bears and bunnies and chicks and all the girly plushy amigurumis, my boys would come up with cartoon characters, game characters.. for me to work on... the latest character favorite from them, is chocobo from Final Fantasy.
I am not a gamer, so I have no clue what-so-ever, but I do like the challenge, so after about two weeks of hibernation from my fuzzy bears and bunnies and chicks and all the girly plushy amigurumis, I am finally done with the pattern and named it 'choockoBird'.....and, my boys approved of similarity to the virtual chocobo....

a fun short crafty story

Here is a fun short story I came across when was I working on my rag dolly research:

A couple whom had been married for over 60 years, they share everything and kept no secrets from each other, expect for one....
One day, the wife became ill and went to the hospital.
The doctor pronounced her term.
Husband went back home and started clearing some of his wife belongings and came across a pretty shoe box on top of their closet.
As he opened the box, he discovered two crochted dolls and a stash of cash.
Bewildered, the husband brought the box to his wife's bedside.
The wife started to explain, ”When we were first married, my grandmother had told me that the secret in keeping a happy marriage is to not get into arguments. She told me no matter what, if I ever should get upside, I should keep calm and crochet a doll instead.”
The husband heard her story and was overjoyed, since there were only two dolls inside the pretty shoe box, that would meant after all these years, his wife was only mad at him twice.
He then asked her about the cash.
The wife replied, “Oh, those are the monies I made from selling my crochet dolls……”

Happy Crafting.... :D

new amigurumi pattern: bearyBear & bffBunny

I was looking through my yarn stash and came across Mode Dea Tweedle Dee and Lion Homespund, both yarns are 5 ply textured yarns, therefore making them into amigurumis would require simpler shapes, back to basic I go:

bearyBear is with semi movable legs and arms in a sitting position; bffBunny is in a permanently standing position; both are soft and cudly *O*. The pattern is one and the same for both bear and bunny, positions are inter-changeable, you can custom make your own bear or bunny in a sitting or standing position, with or without muzzle, add felt pad or not, all up to you; pattern works with all bulky weight yarns.

crochet hooks

I recently purchased a Clover no.B 2.25cm crochet hook, it works wonderfully with sock yarn for mini creations, I tried the baby hook with my jellyfish pattern and it turned out super cute.

Photo Editing

I love colors and color backgrounds, so to update my amigurumi photos on Etsy without photo re-taking, I tried Picnik today, where my old photo editing software can not do, Picnik did the trick, the after picture came out much more brighter, cleaner and sharper than before..... I am impressed with Picnik, it is easy to use and best of all, you can use Picnik for free on-line.

AngelLion

In 2009, I was contacted by a customer to work on a small lion pendant for her daughter. Her young daughter had been ill and was going through treatment, in all this time, her daughter had a plush "guardian lion" that she carried around since child; but during a vacation trip, the "guardian lion" disappeared, her daughter was in disarray. She sent me photos, we messaged back and forth, and we ended up custom made the lion pendant with wings to show her daughter that her "guardian lion" had gone to help other boys and girls whom needed courage to go through what she was going through.

Since I was moved by her story, I asked for permission to make a pattern out of the winged lion and name it "Dalenna - Angel of Courage". Dalenna is part of the young girl's name, lion for its courage and wings are for angel/guardianship.

Hence, Dalenna - Angel of Courage, AngelLion amigurumi pattern came to be......It is a story of a little girl and her guardian lion name Dalenna. One day Dalenna said to her master: "I must go now to help other little girls and boys. You must be brave to go forward and not be sad for what you have lost, for I am always in your heart......"

Come to think of it, don't we all need a little bit of courage once in a while??
